Ollie and Chris attended an informative presentation on Bristol's heat network and the future sustainable heating and cooling options for the city. Infrastructure contractor Vattenfall and Bristol City Leap (a partnership between energy specialist Ameresco and Bristol City Council) discussed the implementation of the heat network to date and plans for future growth. Bristol's heat network currently only serves the city centre, Redcliffe and Bedminster areas of Bristol and is predominantly powered by the major water source heat pump (WSHP) located at Castle Park. Looking to the future, the network will be expanded, and it is hoped that new sustainable energy production methods will be added to supplement the WSHP. As well as Bristol's heat network, the panel discussed other regional sustainable energy projects, including offshore wind turbines and the expansive use of solar PV across Avonmouth's industrial parks. Thanks to the Bristol Property Agents Association for arranging the event.
